WELCOME TO MEDIA, PENNSYLVANIA: AMERICA’S FIRST FAIR TRADE TOWN!
In June, 2006 Media officially became the first Fair Trade town in the Americas. Media resident and business owner Hal Taussig envisioned Media becoming a Fair Trade town after seeing Garstang, UK, the first Fair Trade town in the world.
Located 25 minutes west of Philadelphia, the small town of Media is noted for it’s charm with a running trolley, independent restaurant and small business owners, and sense of community. It truly is “Everybody’s Hometown.”
Media is proud to be an active world citizen by promoting the Fair Trade movement. This economic model provides a fair, living wage to small, independent farmers and producers in developing nations. The simple purchase of Fair Trade products can address poverty in the developing world.
The worldwide Fair Trade town movement is increasing the sale of Fair Trade products exponentially. We are happy and proud to be part of this movement.
