We have a fair trade bean to bar chocolate company that is only 20 minutes from Media and we will meet virtually with the makers to learn about it. Double Spiral Chocolate
was started by Stuart and Mhairi Craig in the arts and crafts community
of Arden DE. They are a scientist and a nurse, and craft these
delicious bars for maximum health benefits. How amazing
is that? Delicious chocolate that is especially good for you, supports
chocolate producer communities, and takes care of our planet by using
fairly traded organic cacao that doesn’t allow chopping down forests to
grow.
Plus, they have a bar with coffee bean bits, which I love but never see, and a mushroom infused one that I am super excited about, as I love foraging and eating local mushrooms! What is healthy about these bars?
We’ll also discuss “fairwashing,” when usually large companies tout their ethical practices,
but when you investigate, you find that they are greatly exaggerating
or even outright lying. This is where Fair Trade certification marks can
be critical – although Double Spiral doesn’t have any! Bring your
