Presented at the Media Borough Council meeting on May 19 our 2022 Fair Trade Awardees are:

SCHOOL AWARD: Vippy Yee, Rosenberg Director, Center for Ethics and Civic Engagement at PSU Brandywine, for introducing our organization to her students and classes, and helping us carry on our mission of raising awareness about Fair Trade.
 
LOCAL MAKER AWARD: Saarene Panossian, Owner, Nether Providence Soap Company, for her commitment to using Fair Trade ingredients in her candles, soaps and personal care products and participating in the #buylocalbuyfair actions
 
LOCAL BUSINESS AWARD: Willow Culbertson, Owner, Willow’s Garden Cafe, for her continued commitment to local and Fair Trade procurement and for hosting our only in person meeting of the year in 2021

INTERNATIONAL AWARD: Bruce Crowther, Father of the International Fair Trade Town Movement, for his years of advocating for “Trade Justice”, publishing his memoir  “Not in My Lifetime: A Fair Trade Campaigner’s Journal” in Nov 2021, and including the connection to our town in it
 
HISTORICAL AWARD: Equal Exchange, for celebrating the 36th anniversary as a co-op, providing an alternative to our food system, promoting transparent supply chains, and trading directly with small farmers and growers
 
COMMITTEE SUPERSTAR AWARD: Robin Kauffman, for her commitment and her dedication to bring back to life our offspring campaigns at Media Elementary School and Springton Lake Middle School
